[ST. PAUL, MN. June 12, 2025] Midwest offices in Edina and Woodbury are now able to accept Minnesota Medicaid (MA) and Health Partners Medicaid insurance plans. By joining Minnesota’s network of early-intervention Medicaid providers, Midwest aims to expand access to care for lower income families. Moving forward, Midwest will contract with two additional Medicaid plan providers, UCare and Blue Cross Blue Shield (Blue+ Plans).
What is Early Intervention and Why It Matters
Early intervention is the practice of providing therapy services to children at the earliest possible stage of childhood development. It’s a proactive approach designed to improve client outcomes by building skills when a child’s brain is most active; 90% of a child’s brain develops before they reach five years old.
Early intervention Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is widely considered the top therapy choice for children with ASD during this key period. During these formative years, ABA can help improve communication, social interaction, and daily living skills. A 2022 study of early intervention ABA effectiveness reported skill growth for 63-88% of participants in (1):
- Emotional regulation
- Adaptive behavioral skills
- Reduction in challenging or harmful behaviors
- Social/communication skills
- Language
- Cognition
Our Approach to Care
As an early-intervention provider, Midwest specializes in working with children ages 2-6 to develop core skills. We focus on providing highly collaborative, individualized, family-centered care in a neuropositive environment. At Midwest, each child receives 1:1 therapy services with a clinical team paired to match their goals. Ongoing caregiver training is included in therapy planning to help families apply skills outside of our centers. When you enroll at Midwest, you can expect:
- A comprehensive evaluation of your child’s needs including Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), a family interview session, a review of medical, diagnostic and therapy history, a review of existing supports (like school IEPs), a review of your family’s cultural needs.
- Individualized therapy recommendations - because no two children are the same and their therapy plans shouldn’t be either.
- To be an active member of your child’s therapy team because, while we’re experts in ABA, you are the expert on your child.

Empowering children to thrive
Our ultimate goal is to empower every child to succeed. By expanding access to our services through the addition of Medicaid plans, we're stepping closer to a world where children with Autism can genuinely thrive in their own unique ways. We invite families to visit our centers and discover how our personalized, professional, and compassionate care can make a difference.
